About Arlene

Arlene Price is an author, speaker, educator, mother, and grandmother. She resides in Anderson, Indiana. A Light in the Valley is her first book, inspired by times of trials redeemed by miraculous works of God.

A Light in the Valley came out of trials she did not plan for and could not fix. She writes and speaks about what it took to stop managing them and let God lead.

“…as though you are sitting across the table from her.”

Anna Price, from the foreword

A Light in the Valley

Cover of A Light in the Valley

Women are taught to plan every area of their life. The hard part is letting go.

Most women who have experienced the quest of motherhood find that things go best when a certain amount of planning takes place. Even with babies, there are many items that must be considered, especially when leaving home to go out for any length of time. As they get older you trade a diaper bag for a wagon to carry sports equipment. The need of going prepared at every age level indicates a need for preparation. The necessity of being continually prepared brings a greater challenge into the dynamics of a relationship with God. Women soon become programmed to feel a need to bring planning into every area of their life. It then presents the difficulty to let go, move into the quiet presence of God and let Him lead.

Arlene Price has used her own life experience to show you the amazing workings of God in situations without human preparation, and to see how faith grows from a small mustard seed to a size that fits the need of every situation. A Light in the Valley can be applied to any trial that plagues mankind when offered from the hand of man to the hand of God. Each chapter is supported by Biblical Scripture and shows how every trial can enlarge faith, hope and trust in an ever-loving Father.

Each chapter is supported by Scripture, which makes the book workable as a study and not only a read.

Keynotes, breakouts,
and retreats

Arlene has walked the valley she describes, and she does not pretend it was easy. She talks about surrender — not as defeat, but as the relief it turned out to be — and then she stays to talk to whoever wants to talk. She travels anywhere in the United States for an honorarium, and covers her own way there.

When You're Not in Control

The day she stopped trying to hold everything together, and what she found underneath it — not defeat, but rest. Works for a mixed room of any age.

God Has a Plan, Even When You Can’t See It

Waiting is its own kind of valley, and nobody can tell you how long it lasts. For groups in the middle of one — between pastors, between answers, between seasons.

Grace Bigger Than Weakness

An honest account of where she failed, and of a grace that turned out to be bigger than all of it. For groups tired of hearing from people who seem to have it together.

Stories from the Valley

Less a talk than a conversation: the story in order, then questions. Best in a smaller room — a Bible study, a Sunday school class, a women's group around tables.

45–60 minute keynote
A single talk for a full gathering.
Breakout session
Shorter, for one track of a larger event.
Multi-session retreat
Several talks across a weekend.
Q&A
On its own, or following any of the above.
Book signing
Paired with a book table if you would like one.
